About the Team

The team combines expertise in finance, financial literacy, and artificial intelligence. They have extensive experience in academic research, policy advisory roles, and advanced AI technologies.

Project Overview

This project aims to create an AI-based educational assistant that helps Greek-speaking individuals improve their financial knowledge and decision-making. Using data from financial literacy surveys and advanced AI technologies, the tool will assess users’ financial skills and provide personalized learning materials on topics like responsible borrowing and retirement planning. Unlike conventional financial literacy tools that rely on multiple-choice testing, the proposed system seeks to explore the use of open-ended user inputs and natural language understanding to assess financial reasoning beyond factual knowledge.

Why It Matters

Financial literacy in Greece and Cyprus remains low, with many households struggling to plan for the future or manage debt in a sustainable fashion. This gap between financial knowledge and real-world behavior often leads to sub-optimal decisions, financial stress, and increased vulnerability to misinformation. In an environment of growing financial complexity and digital exposure, traditional awareness-raising approaches alone is no longer sufficient. This project will empower individuals with practical tools and knowledge, helping them make better financial decisions and improve their financial wellbeing.
